Stonham Aspal & Mickfield Church.

Stonham Aspal Village – Suffolk, United Kingdom
Information and news
This is FTTC – Fibre To The Cabinet. This means that there is fibre to the new cabinets (Tennis Courts and Crowfield Road/ A1120 junction), and then to your home by the existing phone wires.
Unless you have a newer Broadband modem (within, roughly, the last 3 years), you will need one that supports VDSL2. The speed depends on how far away you are from the cabinet.
Your existing supplier will be able to quote you to change your service, but shop around, there may be better deals. Some people have found that they have had to change their telephone master socket to get a stable and better link: You need a NTE5C box. You can buy these online and they are fairly simple to install yourself: If your installer visits make sure they put one in!

If you visit the co-op please be sure to ask for as many tokens as you can get and support our cause to raise more funds for further improvements to the village hall.
We still want to paint the outside of the hall, replace soffits fascia and gutters, renew the drains and resurface the car park.
Thank you!
We had a pudding night and talk at the Village Hall to raise money for the Community Council. Lots of pudding and cheese was eaten! Over 70 people attended. We had a Bar and a Raffle with gifts donated. Well over £700 pounds was raised, which will go to support the Events that the Community Council does to bring the Village together: Such as The Magazine, The Cinema, Autumn Lunch and not forgetting Santa’s visit on Christmas Eve!
Thank you everyone who came along and gave generously, and especially those who made the puddings!

Don’t forget the Roadworks on The Street – A1120 22-26 January 2018 – this is for Electrical Works to new buildings in Stonham Aspal.
We have had a number of reports this week, and we would ask that you make all friends, family and neighbours aware:
We’ve had a report of an individual going door-to-door attempting to sell a “spare” mattress in the Sudbury area.
We have had a report that “Nottingham Knockers” were in the Holbrook area. These individuals knock at doors and claim to be ex-convicts attempting to mend their ways, before trying to sell the householder everyday household products at very high prices. These Nottingham Knockers work in groups across the country but they are not involved in any officially recognised offender rehabilitation programme and many do not possess Pedlar’s Certificates, which are issued by police and are necessary for salespeople to be legally allowed to sell door-to-door.
The rogue fish sellers are back! We’ve had a report that they were going door to door in Rougham, Bury St Edmunds. These traders travel nationally, cold calling consumers’ homes selling the fish. This is often misdescribed, mislabelled or unlabelled, overpriced and sometimes underweight. They are targeting vulnerable consumers and using high pressure sales techniques. They usually use Transit-style vans which are not refrigerated.
Trading Standards always advise residents to refrain from buying at the doorstep and not to buckle to pressure from salespeople offering supposedly one-off ‘buy it now’ low prices.
Additionally, a Suffolk care provider has been targeted by a fake bailiff. The fraud involves being cold-called by someone purporting to be a bailiff working on behalf of a court, attempting to recover funds for a non-existent debt. Please report all scams and rogues to Suffolk Trading Standards via Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 040506.
Don’t forget we have a Bus Service! The full time table is here.
